Following the launch of the provisional UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour calendar for 2024-2025, please find the following updates:
Calendar Update
The UIAA has been engaged in a number of discussions and meetings with event organizers. This has included working on the programmes of the events, rules and regulations and technical briefs regarding competition structures.
The following two updates are now confirmed:
The annual UIAA Ice Climbing World Youth Championships will take place on the 7-9 February 2025. The venue will be confirmed in the next 10 days.
On an unfortunate note, the Chinese Mountaineering Association (CMA) have cancelled the first World Cup of the year which was scheduled to be in China from the 3-5 January 2025.
The other events for this coming season detailed in the provisional calendar release are all on target to go ahead. Additional information will become available when the Athlete Handbook is published in mid-October.
“We are delighted with how the calendar for the 2024-2025 season has come together,” explains UIAA Sports Event Coordinator Rob Adie. “Having World Cups on three continents will help showcase the sport in different territories, with further expansion already planned for the 2026 season. Once again there is an impressive number of Continental level events. These competitions not only provide the perfect opportunity to prepare for the global events but as a series offer a first-class level of climbing.”
