On 28 August, the UIAA Management Board (MB) met to consider the statement released by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 7 July related to the suspension of Russian athletes and officials.
The UIAA MB voted to reconfirm the official UIAA statement, published in 2022 (and reconfirmed in 2025) – regarding the participation of Russian officials and athletes in the 2026-27 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour.
As a result, delegates from the Russian Mountaineering Federation (RMF), Russian officials and athletes will continue to be excluded from all UIAA-sanctioned activities and events. The UIAA will not accept any applications from Russia and the RMF for future hosting of UIAA-sanctioned Ice Climbing competitions. This statement will be reviewed on an annual basis.
