Scotland to host first UIAA Ice Climbing competition

The UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour visits Scotland for the first time on Saturday 18 February.

The Glasgow Climbing Centre will host the event, the third UIAA Ice Climbing European Cup of the season, following competitions in Slovakia (November) and the Czech Republic (December).

The lead discipline only competition will be organized by UIAA member association, the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), and the Scottish Dry-Tooling Club.

The UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup season recently concluded following an enthralling three-event series in South Korea, France and Switzerland. Glasgow marks the penultimate event of the season with the final European Cup and a World Youth Championships to be held in Oulu, Finland from 25-26 February.

An impressive field of over 70 athletes from 16 countries are currently registered. In addition to host country Great Britain, there is a significant presence from Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and the United States.
