André von Rotz officially began his tenure as UIAA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in February 2025. André von Rotz, a German national and graduate mechanical engineer, spent over 11 years working in Switzerland for Mammut. His most recent role was Head of Quality, where he led an international team of engineers, quality managers, textile specialists and inspectors in Asia, at the HQ in Switzerland and at the subsidiary in Germany. He was also responsible for the repair workshops in Switzerland and Europe. With past roles in product compliance and product development, von Rotz brings vast experience and expertise in the fields of climber safety and equipment. As part of his role at Mammut, a UIAA Safety Label Holder, von Rotz was an active member of the pool of climbing equipment manufacturers who have supported the research, testing and development of UIAA Safety Standards.

Rob Adie from the UK has been with the UIAA since 2017 as Sports Event Coordinator. He is responsible for coordination, planning and implementation of projects, activities and decisions of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour including the UIAA Ice Climbing World Championships, UIAA Ice Climbing World Youth Championships and Continental Cup Series. He also fosters the development of relationships with sport organisations, stakeholders and partners: IOC, member federations, event organisers, sponsors, media, athletes and officials. Rob provides support and implementation of sport-related projects and decisions of the UIAA Executive Board, Management Committee, General Assembly and Commissions as well as providing support for the Youth and Anti-Doping Commissions. Previous to his time at the UIAA, Rob worked for ten years at the British Mountaineering Council running their national and international competition programme. Rob is an active climber, skier and mountain biker.

She has been instrumental in advancing the sport through her work with organizations like Climbing Escalade Canada, USA Climbing, and the UIAA World Ice Climbing. With over 25 years of experience in sales and strategic development, JoAnne leverages her business expertise to help climbing ventures grow sustainably. Her passion for community engagement and athlete development drives her commitment to growing climbing at all levels—from grassroots to elite competition.

Eimir McSwiggan was elected to the MB at the 2024 General Assembly. Eimir is an experienced international athlete, who has represented Ireland in the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour for over a decade. A multiple medallist, her career best end of season World Tour position is third place. Eimir has dedicated significant time to the development of the sport. She was elected Head of the UIAA Athlete Commission in 2022 and also served on the interim UIAA Ice Climbing Governance Group, driving the development of standards and competition frameworks. An architect by training, she holds Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture and Architectural Science from University College Dublin and has seven years of industry experience. Eimir also excels as a product designer, co-developing the JET B Ice Climbing Equipment in South Korea, a country she resided in for a significant period. In addition to her athletic and professional achievements, Eimir has over a decade of experience in education across Asia and is actively involved in competition climbing development in Ireland. Her accolades include the Ulster Herald Sports Personality Hall of Fame Award and Northern Ireland Athlete Investment Scheme honours.

Passionate about sport, mountains, and adventure, Étienne Grillot specialised in the organisation of international sporting events following an experience as an ice climbing athlete and the attainment of the French State Diploma as a Sports Educator in Climbing and Canyoning. With extensive experience within the Olympic Movement and elite sport, he has worked for the FFCAM and the UIAA as a sports events coordinator, as well as for local authorities (Champagny-en-Vanoise and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc) and in the private sector. Now a freelance specialist in sports marketing and event management, he possesses an in-depth understanding of the global sports ecosystem and the stakes of sports diplomacy. Within World Ice Climbing, he leads the bid for Ice Climbing to be included as an additional sport at the Winter Olympic Games in the French Alps in 2030.
