UIAA reconfirms suspension of Russian officials and athletes for the 2025-26 season

On 29 October, after surveying the member federations of the UIAA, the World Ice Climbing Board decided to reconfirm the official UIAA statement, released in 2023 – regarding the situation concerning Russian officials and athletes competing in the 2025-26 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour.

As a result, delegates from the Russian Mountaineering Federation (RMF), Russian officials and athletes continue to be excluded from all UIAA-sanctioned activities and events. The UIAA will not accept any applications from Russia and the RMF for future hosting of UIAA-sanctioned Ice Climbing competitions. This is to protect the safety and security of the Ice Climbing community and the integrity of the sport. This statement will be reviewed on an annual basis in the spring after each ice climbing season.
